The 42 Degrees North Air Assault is an annual Hunter Mountain tradition and NY State’s premier freeride event. This PRO/AM event, which began in 2005, has consistently grown each year and draws over a hundred competitors and ten thousands spectators through out the weekend. Over the course of two days snowboarders and freestyle skiers compete head-to-head in three events.
Events
Rail Jam - 45 min. open jam session on a series of urban skate style features, designed to showcase new school snowboarding and freestyle skiing techniques. Competitors use a shotgun style format to move through 2 rounds of competition.
Quarterpipe - a 300 yard in run to 18 ft. high vertical quarter part designed to launch athletes over 30ft in the air, where they are judged on amplitude, rotation and technical merit. 2 rounds of competition.
Big Air - a contest designed to showcase athletes abilities on the biggest air, longest jump and technical merit. 2 rounds of competition.
Awards
- Grand prize giveaway of a ski or snowboard trip to South America (open to everyone who comes to the mountain)
- $25,000 is cash and prizes awarded to winners
Entertainment
Through out the event weekend Hunter Mountain provides an assortment of live music entertainment, that features local and national acts, who perform between, during and after competitions.
